Truth Zone Records & Curls Ultra presents: CINEMA ULTRA

The highly lauded film & live score series returns Monday October 26th at its brand new home SKYLARK with a very special Halloween screening of David Cronenberg’s sci-fi body horror classic VIDEODROME. Featuring a live improvised score by CURLS ULTRA, visuals and projection by HYDROSONIC LIGHT SHOW and DJ TIMELIFE on deck spinning pre/post show jams. This is a FREE event but donations for the performers+production team are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED.

About the Band:

“Like the bands of the "new, weird America" scene of two decades ago (Sunburned Hand of the Man, Akron/Family, et al), Curls Ultra take inspiration from the shaggy psychonauts of the '60s, sharpening the hippy boogie-woogie rumble for a more dissonant and dystopian age. You'll hear echoes of German greats like CAN or Amon Düül II and hints of more recent stateside fellow travelers such as Cul de Sac. You'll get some healthy doses of goofier, good-time jammers like Phish and even Ween, as well. But Curls Ultra aren't solely interested in resurrecting the mysticism of the past or indulging in the parties of the present. Instead, they create something more majestic and disturbing—loose, surging songs that find grooves in the unbalanced and make dangerous alienation into a kind of lunatic communion. If, as the poet William Carlos Williams wrote, "The pure products of America go crazy," then Curls Ultra, an undiluted American band, are certainly going nuts.”
